With this goal in mind, Oakwood Adventist Academy reserves the right to change, at any time, the rates charged for tuition and fees to meet changes in economic conditions and to maintain the quality of its program.

Registration fees are inclusive of the following items: testing, insurance, technology K-8, Angel/Library, Student activity, yearbook, K-supply (Kindergarten only) and music fee. Admission fees apply to new and readmitted students. Technology and music fees for grades 9-12 are listed below.

Discounts
When there are two or more students attending Oakwood Adventist Academy belonging to one family unit, tuition discounts will be applied to the student in the highest grade level first. Discounts for the remaining family members will be applied in descending grade level order.
Any applicable will applied as follows:
1st Child - Full Tuition
2nd Child - 5% Discount
3rd Child - 10% Discount
4th Child or More - 15% Discount
Students receiving a discount other than the family discount will not be eligible for dual discounts (i.e. if receiving the Educational Allowance you will not be able to receive the Worthy Student Discount).
Educational allowance and discounts are applied to dependents. A dependent is defined as being born to, or legally adopted by an employee and/or spouse, or stepchild by marriage. The student must receive more than 50 percent of support from the new family unit.
Donations
All monetary donations to Oakwood Adventist Academy are non-refundable. Non-monetary donations become the property of the school.
Constituent Students
A student whose family holds an active membership at any of the nine area churches that directly subsidize the school\'s operations will be charged the constituent rate. Guardians for student boarders must be members of one of the constituent churches. The constituent churches are Decatur Alpha SDA Church, First SDA Church, Harvest SDA Church, Athens SDA Church, Madison Mission SDA Church, Mt. Calvary SDA Church, Mt. Pispah SDA Church, New Life SDA Church, and Oakwood University SDA Church. Individuals transferring their membership will be afforded the constituent rate the month after notification is received from the constituent church.
Non-Constituent
Tuition payments do not cover the full cost of operating Oakwood Adventist Academy. Families who are not members of one of the nine area churches are required to pay the non-constituent fees.
Late Registration Fees
$ 75.00 - First day of school

Tuition Payment Plans
PLAN 1 -- Cash in Advance: A 10% tuition discount is given to those who pay their annual tuition and fees at the time of registration. A 5% tuition discount is given to those who pay their semester tuition and fees at the time of registration for the first semester, and before or during the first week of class for the second semester. This discount is calculated on one half of the yearly tuition. Tuition may be paid-in-full through the use of Visa or Master Card.
PLAN 2 -- Oakwood University Payroll Deduction: Parents employed by Oakwood University may enroll in the University\'s payroll deduction program by notifying the Payroll/Personnel Office and the Academy at the time of registration.
PLAN 3 -- Academy Tuition Management Program: This option will allow parents to pay their child\'s tuition on a monthly plan. Payments may be made by check, money order, Visa or Master Card. Payments will be due in the Business Office on the 1st of each month. Payments received after the 20th of each month will be considered late and a $25.00 late charge will be added to each delinquent account.
A $36 fee will apply to all checks returned due to insufficient funds
Any checks returned to the Business Office due to account holder error will require payment by cash, cashiers check, Visa credit card, or money order. NSF checks are sent to CheckRedi.
Refunds
Should a student withdraw from school, a refund will be pro-rated for those parents who have paid in advance. Lab fees will be refunded only within fourteen (14) days after the beginning of school. The date of withdrawal will be the date the Business Office is notified by a properly documented Student Withdrawal Form. Admission, Registration and book fees are not refundable.
Specific Policies
Past due accounts must be paid in full before the student will be permitted to enroll.
A student transferring from another private school must, at the time of registration, present a statement showing that his/her account has been settled.
If an account becomes thirty (30) days delinquent, the student education will be interrupted until the account is brought to a current financial status. Personal checks will not be accepted at this time.
Transcripts or grades will not be issued until the student\'s tuition account has been paid in full. Exam permits will not be issued until arrangements have been made. Students in grades 9-12 need a semester exam permit in December and May. Students in grades 1-8 need exit clearance from the Business Office in May.
Tuition will be prorated for students who register after Labor Day.
Before any student in grades 9 - 12 receives an exam permit their account must be current.
Students preparing to graduate from kindergarten, 8th and 12th grade are required to have account balances paid in full prior to graduation. Balances must be paid in full before seniors can take their final exams.
Tuition for the month of May (if paid after the 10th) must be paid either in cash, money order, cashier\'s check, traveler\'s check, or by credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
Before overnight school trips are taken, financial clearance must be obtained from the business office. Clearance will be based on the statues of the account at the time of the trip.
All funds collected on behalf of Oakwood Adventist Academy must be submitted to the Business Office for proper accounting.
All field trips must end by April 30 of each school year. Transportation requests will not be authorized for field trips after April 30 except for regularly scheduled year end activities (i.e. graduation rehearsals).
Work for Students
Some students may earn part of their expenses by working in the administrative office, business office, library, custodial department, registrar\'s office or as a reader. Students may work for only one teacher at a time. They must be at least 14 years of age, have a social security number and an Alabama work permit. The student must also be prepared to complete a U.S. Department of Justice Immigration and Naturalization Service Employment Eligibility Verification (form I - 9); a Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service W - 2 form; and an Employees Alabama Withholding Exemption Certificate before beginning work. All earnings are applied to the student\'s account monthly. They may withdraw a small amount of cash with a parent written authorization when there is a credit balance.
