INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TUITION & FEES INFORMATION
2011-2012
Introduction
The fee schedule for International Students is different from domestic students. The reasons are many, but include application processing complexity, currency issues, insurance issues, Department of Homeland Security requirements, etc. The fees have been arrived at to maximum the possibility of student placement and minimize surprise expenses for the student\'s families.
Application Processing Fees:
Independent International Students (NON-REFUNDABLE - applied to tuition) $ 500.00
Tuition Fees:
Note that some organizations have contracted fee arrangements with KCS and/or additional fee requirements because of their services, so if you are applying through an organization, please consult with that organization to determine the expenses involved, including our tuition. Students applying independent of an organization should plan for about $10,000.00/yr. (This is substantially inclusive in that
it covers most fees that are charged separately to local students. This fee includes tuition, books, yearbook, high school retreat, class fees, sport fees, standardized testing, etc. IT DOES NOT INCLUDE - Social event fees, food, housing expenses, health insurance, I-901 fees, visa fees, College Entrance Testing, etc.)
NOTES:
1. The full tuition fees must be paid prior to attending.
2. Fees are payable by Wiring to our account, Cashier\'s Check or Credit Card.
3. Once the student attends classes on campus, the tuition fee is non-refundable, even if the student decides to or is required to return home (or transfer to another school) prior to the end of the semester or school year.
Housing Expenses:
All students under 18 years of age must live with an adult at all times. KCS also highly recommends that all school age students live with an adult. It is recommended that single host adults be at least 30 years of age and hosting married couples be at least 23 years of age. Generally speaking organization affiliated cultural exchange students obtain housing through their organization and the host family is not compensated (though some organizations allow specific areas of compensation such as transportation, etc). Please be aware that housing can cost as much as $15,000 per school year and therefore students should be prepared to pay that amount. Nonetheless, while KCS facilitates finding host families the actual arrangements and payments are arranged by other organizations or directly between the biological parents/legal guardians and the host family, so the actual amount is negotiable between them.
It is important to remember that the US Homeland Security requires that housing for the full year be reserved in an escrow account in order to obtain/renew the student\'s F-1 visa.
Other Expenses:
All students will need additional money for non-school items such as clothing, food not eaten with the host family, gifts, etc.
