About Financial Aid
The Waldorf School offers financial aid to qualified students, current and newly admitted, to enable them to receive the benefits of a Waldorf education when families are unable to pay full tuition. We are not able to award any full scholarships. Assistance is available in Nursery to Grade 8. One third of the families in our school receives tuition assistance.
How Awards Are Made
The Waldorf School uses the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) branch of the Education Testing Service in Princeton as the departure point in the analysis for awarding grants.
In order for a family to have its case reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee, the parents must:
submit the SSS Parents\' Financial Aid form (SSS Helpline 609-771-7770) by the required date, usually mid-February. Application and all related materials must be submitted directly to SSS via the online application. Visit SSS On Line.
submit to SSS by the designated deadline copies of your most recently filed Federal Income Tax forms.
If you are applying for Financial Aid, you must do so when you submit your application for admission. After the admissions process has been completed and all paperwork has been received, the Committee reviews the information and makes a determination of aid for the following academic year. It is in your child(ren)\'s best interest to file early and certainly no later than the SSS deadline. In order to clarify information, both for the school and for families, interviews with families and members of the Tuition Assistance Committee are sometimes necessary. Financial Aid decisions are made by the end of March.
Please note before applying
Although the resources of the school are limited, the Tuition Assistance Committee\'s goal is to make the enrollment of qualified students possible for families whose financial situation would otherwise prohibit it. Aid is awarded to families in greatest need. Paying tuition must be a priority for the family. Both parents are expected to contribute to tuition through employment and other sources of income.
Current students
Applications for the renewal of tuition assistance must be made each year. Students who receive tuition assistance must be in good academic and social standing. Student records and Tuition Assistance forms are reviewed annually.
Notification of Awards
Completed applications will be reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee, and families will be notified as decisions are made. Awards will be made contingent upon receipt of a copy of the completed most recent Federal Income Tax Form 1040 (with all accompanying schedules). The school reserves the right to adjust any tuition assistance awards when there is a deviation between the actual income reported on the prior year tax returns and that projected in the application. The school further reserves the right to revoke any tuition assistance awards when a misleading representation of the family need is presented through incorrect information or through omissions.
Parents should not file an appeal unless they believe that their circumstances have changed significantly from that represented in their original application, or if they wish to submit additional information that might impact the decision of the Committee.
Please contact Joe O\'Regan, Finance Director at 781-863-1063 or email Joe O\'Regan with any questions on Financial Aid.
