Financial Aid Information
We recognize that you, as a parent, must consider the challenge of providing for your child\'s opportunity to attend SBA. We believe that your family\'s decision to join the SBA community should be based upon its academic, athletic, and community offerings; not upon the cost of attendance. We are aware that some families choose not to apply for admission out of concern for the cost. Every family will be asked to make a sacrifice, but it is our goal to make SBA available to families from every financial background.
In order to be considered for need-based financial assistance, families must complete an application process annually through the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). This organization looks at family income, expenses, assets, and debts, as well as family size, and the number of children in the family attending tuition-charging schools, to determine a level of financial need. SBA\'s Financial Aid Committee uses the report in conjunction with our financial aid policies to determine what a family could contribute to educational expenses.
Financial aid funds are limited and early return of the enrollment contract and completion of the financial aid form is requested. Applications will be processed within 14 days of receipt of the SSS recommendation and families will be given 14 days to respond to financial aid awards.
Applying for Financial Aid
Families who wish to apply for financial aid should complete and submit a Parent Financial Statement (PFS) to the School and Student Services (SSS) branch of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Parent Financial Statement can be completed online at sss.nais.org/parents/. The Sugar Bowl Academy Financial Aid Committee uses the information from the PFS report to make need based awards. All financial information is kept confidential.
In addition to need-based financial aid, Sugar Bowl Academy students are encouraged to apply for athletic scholarships through the Far West Masters and the Lake Tahoe Ski Education Foundation. Applications for each of these scholarships are posted on the Sugar Bowl Ski Team Foundation\'s website at www.sbst.org as they become available. The Foundation\'s complete financial aid policies can also be found at www.sbst.org.
