About Marian Middle School

What does it take to be a Marian girl?
She must be:

In grade 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th
Of average or above average ability
Eligible for a free or reduced-fee lunch program
A girl of promise, capable of meeting the eligibility requirements of a college preparatory high school
Supported by at least one caring adult who is actively involved in her education
In need of a challenge or falling behind in a traditional school setting

Family Involvement
The extended school day (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) allows ample time for students to complete their homework assignments and participate in enrichment activities. As a result, school requirements during family time are minimal. Supportive, caring adults will make sure that the Marian girl has reliable transportation, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, clean uniform, and encouragement in her school experience.

Marian faculty ask that the caregiver sign off on the student's weekly family folder, perform two hours of volunteer service a month and attend two parent-teacher-student conferences a year.

Tuition
In keeping with its mission, Marian Middle School offers a private school education to adolescents from economically disadvantaged families. The tuition is nominal and based on the family's financial situation. Marian's tuition fees are significantly augmented by grants, gifts, fundraisers, and the generosity of corporate and individual donors.

How much is tuition?
Tuition is nominal and based on the family's financial situation. On average, Marian families pay about $40 per month.

How much does it cost to educate one Marian girl?
On average, it costs $12,000 to educate one Marian girl. Each family is responsible for approximately $400. The remainder is covered through generous donations from individuals, corporations, grants and foundations.

A Day In the Life of a Marian Girl
Adhering to the NativityMiguel model of education, these young girls commit to an intense 10-month, 10-hour schedule, where they develop critical thinking, problem solving, leadership and life skills that will take them successfully into the next chapter of their career. The school year begins in early August and ends in late May. Students also attend a 3-week summer sizzler in July and one Academic Saturday each month.
