About Mount St Charles Academy
Tuition is set each January for the following school year by the Mount Saint Charles Academy School Board.
Increases in tuition reflect increased cost in salaries, programs, supplies, and utilities.
Tuition History
2012-2013 $11,500.
2011-2012 $10,900.
2010-2011 $10,600.
2009-2010 $10,400.
2008-2009 $9,800.
Fees
A non-refundable registration fee of $100 is required each year. There are no other hidden fees. Seniors pay a graduation fee (currently $235) that includes a yearbook, cap and gown, diploma, and other items associated with graduation.
Payment Options
There are three payment schedules available. A full payment by June 1st includes a small discount on tuition. Two semester payments on June 1 and December 1 may be made directly to the Academy. A monthly budget plan is administered through the F.A.C.T.S. Tuition Plan, a third party contracted by the Academy.
Books, uniforms, and transportation are not included in the cost of tuition.
Financial Aid/Tuition Assistance Grants
MSC has made a priority of providing financial assistance to eligible families in order to meet the costs of tuition. Over $500,000 is awarded each year to our families.
These need-based grants are awarded to families based on the recommendation of a private school aid service. This independent firm summarizes financial data provided by the parents. There are no set amounts, but our philosophy is to help as many families as possible with some aid rather than a few families with large amounts of aid.
The Tuition Aid Application is available at www.factstuitionaid.com and the deadline for submission for the first round of consideration is mid-February.
Diocesan Grants
The Diocese of Providence provides a limited amount of financial aid to students living within the diocese. Applications are generated by the same application form as the MSC Tuition Assistance Grants.
Merit Scholarships
These varied scholarships are for current MSC students. Each scholarship has its own criteria and these awards are not necessarily need-based grants. There are no applications for these scholarships.
Mount Scholarships
A limited number of partial scholarships (worth 10% of the current year tuition) are awarded to incoming 7th or 9th graders based on the December sitting of the Entrance Exam. These scholarships are renewable each year the student attends MSC provided the student attains honor roll status and remains a student in good standing.
Parish Subsidies
Some parishes are able to provide aid to families. Contact your pastor for more information.
